Phil Spencer Highlights the Necessity of Mobile Integration for Xbox's Success
Phil Spencer emphasized that Xbox's growth requires a stronger presence in the mobile market. During an interview at Gamescom in Cologne today, he underscored this as the principal motivation behind Microsoft's pursuit to acquire Activision Blizzard, including its mobile division King, for $68.7bn.
"We're discussing an acquisition with Activision Blizzard King specifically because of their mobile proficiency, something we presently lack," Spencer explained to me. "Access to new games is not our focus, as we already offer popular games such as Call of Duty and Diablo on our platform.. Rather, it's about enhancing our capabilities in mobile and pursuing our broader ambitions on the most extensive gaming platform, mobile phones."
